2010 Events

2009/2010 Major Art Project
Local artists, working in different mediums, have kindly donated their time and artistic ability to work with people with disabilities to enable them to explore their own artistic ability.

We have worked with ceramics( Heather Hutchinson); clay (Linda Field);waste to art (Peter Brooks); Assemblage (Colin Jones) and acrylics (Phyllis Setchell). We have two mediums to complete. Everyone has had, and continues to have so much fun – with some really beautiful results.

Lifeskills Plus is pleased to be supported not only by our local artists but also by the local Arts Council and they will be helping us with our exhibition.

An art exhibition of all our works will be held at the Stables Centre, Market Street , Mudgee from Friday 3/9/2010 – Sunday 12/9/2010. We are hoping that everyone from the community will come and support us during this time – we certainly have a great selection of art to see.

Success with our Waste to Art

Exciting news!!
Lifeskills clients not only won the Waste to Art – three dimensional competition with our ‘Poochasaurus’ for Mid Western Regional LGA in December 2009–

In June 2010 Lifeskills also won the Regional Waste to Art competition held at Menindee – everyone loves our Poochie !!!

A huge thank you to Peter Brooks for his support through this process and to Colin Jones for his efforts to get Poochie to Menindee for judging.

Additions to our Regular Community Access programs

We are pleased to announce 2 new ongoing activities to our programs. These are

  • Horse riding at the Arena Horsemanship Centre, Mudgee from mid July 2010 will be held fortnightly.

Our Biggest Project yet!!

A New Purpose Built Centre – a community project

As a result of consultations with clients, their families, other service providers and the community it was agreed that our biggest need was to have a purpose built facility. This facility would allow us to better provide services to our clients from all over the Mid West Regional LGA which includes Kandos, Rylestone, Illford, Hargraves, Gulgong and Mudgee.

After some exceptional generosity from people in our community and a lot of work by people at Lifeskills we now have 2 blocks of land and a development application submitted to council.

We are proud to have the support of our community and would like to thank everyone who has come on board to help us with our exciting new venture.

Special recognition must go to:
